Simple Scones

My first scone-baking experience. I have been looking for a simple biscuit/bread recipe to use for Sunday morning breakfast or brunch. This recipe does not even require an electric mixer! Where have you been all my life?!

Simple Scones

  • ½ C sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 2 C flour
  • 6 T sugar
  • 1 t baking powder
  • ½ t salt
  • ¼ t baking soda
  • ½ C raisins
  • 1 stick of butter

(Butter should be frozen for flakiness and to easily grate using a cheese grater.)

Combine the sour cream and egg and set aside. Put all dry ingredients together in a bowl and combine. Grate the cold butter into the dry ingredients then add the egg/sour cream mixture. Roll the mixture onto a lightly floured surface but be gentle.

Make a 7-8” circle or square and cut into 8 pieces. Bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes on a middle rack so not to scorch and enjoy!
